Although a Vibernum and not a true cranberry, the Highbush Cranberry is recognized by its ruby red color and rather distinctive fruity and woodsy bouquet. Growing in the same boggy area as the true cranberry, it will be found on the higher ground. It is loved by the wildlife as well, because the fruit will stay on into the winter as a source of food for them. Excellant on waffles, pancakes, yogurt and ice cream. Try as a flavoring for baked goods or meat sauces. Use as the syrup in any beverage calling for flavored syrup.
